waiting at the finish line!!!

i would just like to give a little shout out to meg, stine and ash. these girls ran the sl marathon and did, AWESOME. they came in at 2 hours and 2 minutes, keeping up a 9 minute mile for 13.1 miles, dang girls you rock!!!

they did have some support along the way. matt and i met them at albertson's and on 13th and 27th. i tried to take some pictures but it is not as easy as it sounds. have you ever tried to find two people in a mass of peps, a) i couldn't remember what they were wear so it was like looking for a stranger, b) a running mass of people coming right at you is quite intimidating!!! and when we finally spotted them, well actually they spotted us, they wouldn't even stop to pose for a picture. i guess they were in a little thing called a race.

the girls kept up the running and matt and i drove down through some crazy traffic due to all the main roads being closed to meet the athletes at the finish line. we had a little time to spare so, what did we do? had a little free continental breakfast from the residence inn. let me tell you this is my new favorite breakfast spot, they have everything, even a belgian waffle maker, its all you can eat, and it is free, well to guests, but we don't have to let anyone know that we aren't. and next time i won't wear a utah sweatshirt, that is kind of a dead giveaway that i am not from out of state.
back to the race, so we finished up and headed to gateway. we thought the girls would come in just over 2 hours and got there at 2:10. little did we know, the fast little runners came in 8 minutes earlier and we missed them. we stayed until it was 3:30 minutes into the race and we started to worry that something had happened, when really they were amazing and had been long done. while we waited the excitement and atmosphere was so fun. it almost made me want to run, but not really.
we saw the first guy finish the marathon at 2:20 wow, that is fast, i almost missed him when he ran by cause it was sooooo fast. and the first women at 2:45, it was amazing!!!
all in all the marathon was a great time. congrats to all who ran, and if anyone needs a photograph next year don't ask me, haha.

oh yeah at the finish line i did see katie and brandino, great job you two!!
